Welcome To Edwards

If you’re considering moving or relocating to Colorado, you have a couple of different options for where to settle. Many people think that living in Denver and the Front Range is the only place to do it. However, here in the beautiful mountains of Colorado, Edwards is a great place to call home.

Edwards is a picturesque mountain town located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. It has stunning scenery, plentiful outdoor activities, and a very, very friendly community. If you’re thinking about moving to Edwards, you’re in for a treat. We’re going to touch on five quick topics so you can make an informed decision about living here.

A Tight-Knit Community

First and foremost, Edwards is a super tight-knit community. Whether you’re grabbing a cup of coffee at one of the local cafes or running into your neighbors at the grocery store, everyone here seems happy to chat and make new friends.

In particular, we have a pickleball group that is filled with people of all ages. We have kids in high school still and people in their 80s that are part of this pickleball phenomenon - which is basically sweeping the country. We get together on Fridays, Mondays, Saturdays, and Sundays, though you can probably find a group during the week as well.

The people that live here in Edwards all have very similar wants, needs, desires, personal achievements, and goals that we want to accomplish. It’s a great place to live as far as a community-driven sense of acceptance goes and a fantastic place to call home. With a variety of community events throughout the year - like the annual Blues, Brews & BBQ Festival - it’s easy to get to know your neighbors and feel like a part of the community.

The Great Outdoors

While this probably goes without saying, another great thing about Edwards is the proximity to the great outdoors. Whether you’re into hiking, biking, skiing, or just taking part in the beautiful scenery, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to get outside and enjoy nature.

Edwards is a hop, skip, and a jump right down the road from two iconic world-known ski resorts. We have Vail - located right up the valley - as well as Beaver Creek. We're close to fantastic places where you can just enjoy the slopes during the winter. Additionally, you can downhill mountain bike Vale in the summertime.

Speaking of summer, the hiking and camping spots out here are insane. There’s also fishing and hunting as well. Speaking of hunting, I should have worn my huge coyote hat, as it’s kind of cold out here today. It was made by a hunter that got the coyote himself, and it keeps me super warm.

What do you like doing in the summertime? What kind of activity do you like to do in the wintertime? Leave a comment below and let us know. If we’re missing something, we’ll try to cover that topic in a different video.

The Riverwalk

The third thing that's great about Edwards is the Riverwalk, a community area with all sorts of different restaurants and shops. There’s a movie theater that has the best soft-serve ice cream I think I’ve ever had in my life, along with all sorts of different mom-and-pop shops. You can also find thrift stores, which are a dream for thrifty shoppers.

The Riverwalk is also a beautiful trail that runs along the Eagle River. It’s perfect for a Monday morning run, walking the dog, having a picnic with friends and family, or just taking in the crisp Colorado air. When the snow melt starts to happen in the springtime, you can actually take your rafts down the Eagle River to enjoy world-class rafting.

One negative thing I would say about the Riverwalk area in particular is that it's where people seem to have the most aggravation. What I mean by that is it's congested; the parking lot is filled with people coming in and out. As mentioned in another video, some of these people don’t live here year-round. This can sometimes cause tensions to seem a little bit higher there.

Personally, my stress levels do increase a little bit at the Riverwalk - especially when I hear people honking at each other in their cars. Other than those microaggressions that people seem to get when they’re in a hurry, the Riverwalk is an awesome place to hang out.

Shops, Restaurants, And Events

Edwards just isn’t about the great outdoors. The town also has a thriving community with plenty of local shops, restaurants, and events to enjoy. We’ve got farmer’s markets and live performances, and there’s always something happening in Edwards.

Another cool thing (that’s not quite in Edwards but just down the road at the Four Eagle Ranch) is the Hoedown. One Thursday a month, a band comes and plays music. You can take your family to enjoy the ranch itself, or grab food and cocktails before learning how to line and swing dance. It's a super good time for all ages.

Edwards also has several art galleries, museums, and of course, the movie theater that I mentioned earlier. This offers a variety of cultural opportunities. As mentioned, one of my favorite things to do is to go fishing and boating on the Eagle River. However, if watersports aren’t your thing, there are plenty of golf courses up and down the valley here that you can enjoy.

Another popular summer activity in Edwards is visiting the Vail Valley Farmer's Market, which features locally-grown produce and handmade crafts. The nearby Vail and Beaver Creek ski resorts offer a variety of outdoor activities like mountain biking, scenic gondola rides, and skiing.

Raising A Family

Edwards is also a great place to raise a family. With top-rated schools and plenty of kid-friendly activities - like the community pool and the playgrounds - your kids will have the opportunity to grow and thrive. Additionally, with all the outdoor activities available, your family will never be bored.

Edwards is not quite as biker friendly as a town just down the valley called Eagle. Eagle is a little bit more family-friendly when it comes to the kids being able to ride their bikes around, as it's less congested. Still, Edwards has so many activities. Kiddos are playing all the time when you take the dog out for a morning stroll. You'll see kids on the playgrounds before school, and they always seem to have a smile on their faces.
