Moving to A Colorado Mountain Town

What to Expect When Living in Eagle County, Colorado

Are you considering making the move to Eagle County, Colorado? If so, there are a few things you need to know before you take the plunge. From mail service and bills to roads and traffic,
here's what you should expect when you make the move. Although it might be a beautiful place to live, there are certain expectations you should have when you move here!

Mail Service

The first thing you should know about living in Eagle County is that there is no home delivery for mail. If you plan on getting your mail delivered to your door, it will have to be rerouted from
another county. Instead, residents use P.O. boxes for their mail service. Furthermore, many homes don't show up on USPS maps due to the newness of some of the roads in the area.
Make sure to double-check with USPS before using them as your primary mail service provider.

Parking And Tourism

Another thing that can be hard to come by in Eagle County is parking spots due to its status as a popular tourist destination - especially during ski season and then again during spring when people flock into town for rafting and hiking trips. This influx of people means that parking can be sparse or nonexistent at times, so it's best to plan ahead and arrive early if possible. This also means trails will be super busy if you don't get there early. Most likely best to have some back up plans.

Pricing

It goes without saying that most things will cost more due to Eagle County's location - from groceries, restaurants, entertainment venues and more. So if you're looking for a place where all of your needs are affordable (or even cheap!). Why is it so much more for gas and food? Well, it takes more for it to get here which means the price will be more than you'd see in downtown Denver for some items.

Travel Issues

Finally, travel issues can arise due to there being limited ways in and out of town at times - especially during inclement weather conditions or if an area road is closed suddenly due to construction or natural occurrences such as rockslides. This means that if something does happen while you're traveling out of town, you may have no choice but wait until it gets cleared up before continuing on your way home again.

Can You Handle Mountain Living?

All in all, living in Eagle County comes with some unique challenges compared to other areas throughout Colorado - but they are nothing insurmountable! With just a bit of extra planning and
preparation beforehand (and possibly budgeting), these issues won't seem so daunting once you get settled into your new home! Plus, with all of the outdoor activities available right at your fingertips in this beautiful mountain region, it is sure to become one of your favorite places!
