The Best Neighborhoods In Eagle, Colorado

Is living in a Colorado mountain town, away from the hustle and bustle of wherever you’re living now, on your bucket list? In this video, I'm going to show you where to live in Eagle, Colorado, right here in the wonderful Vail Valley. We'll explore a few different neighborhoods and learn about what they have to offer so you can choose the mountain community that fits you best.

Mountain Living In Eagle

If you want to experience mountain living in Colorado, Eagle is a great place to do it. Here in Colorado, everybody talks about elevation. The elevation of Eagle is about 6,600 feet above sea level. It’s 5.6 square miles and is about 130 miles due west of Denver in the mountains through the Continental Divide, nestled right in the basin area of the Vail Valley.

Eagle is located 5 minutes from the Vail Regional Airport. So if you're one of those road warriors or you have to travel by plane for work, Eagle's got your back. Additionally, the population of Eagle is 7,000 people and the average age is 35.

Eby Creek

The first neighborhood you'll want to check out in Eagle is Eby Creek. While all the other neighborhoods are kind of down in the valley, this community offers views of the entire valley. It’s surrounded by BLM land and there are a ton of trails.

Eby Creek is a settled-in neighborhood, and there’s not a whole lot of development happening there any longer. When you visit Eby Creek for a little barbecue or a kiddo's birthday, you'll get a taste of the wonderful sense of community up there.

The Bluffs

As you come down from Eby Creek Mesa, the next community you should visit is The Bluffs. The Bluffs is a neighborhood that’s a little bit on the newer side. Here, you'll find some duplexes and single-family homes. It's a very solid neighborhood to get your feet planted here in Eagle.

Another great feature is that Eagle's middle school is located there, right along with Eagle Valley Elementary School. One of the really cool things about The Bluffs neighborhood is that right behind the neighborhood are the bluffs. There you'll find the Boneyard, a very, very popular mountain bike trail here in town. You’ll also see people trail running along with kids taking their sleds up after a nice snow.

These brave kids will climb all the way to the top and literally launch down on their sleds. It's really hilarious and, as a matter of fact, my wife got smashed by one of the kids the other day. It was pretty funny and thankfully, nobody was hurt; we all just laughed. It's for this sense of fun in the outdoors along with great home options that The Bluffs is a solid neighborhood for you.

Old Town

The next area you may want to settle in is Old Town. Eagle was originally incorporated in 1905, giving the town that Western vibe. Very similar to having a main drag, Broadway Street is a picturesque type of old small-town America.

One of the other really cool things about living in the Old Town area is that it's going through a little bit of a revitalization - which is much needed, as many houses were built in the early 1900s. Here’s a real quick tip: there are no stoplights in town here. It’s all roundabouts. This means you don’t have people honking because they’re stopped at a red light on their phone texting as you're venturing out in Old Town.

Old Town also offers a variety of fun things to do. Take advantage of free concerts every Thursday at the Pavillion for a fun experience. You can also enjoy free ice skating in the winter, a great option for the kids to get outside and have some fun.

Eagle Ranch

Now we'll head over to Eagle Ranch, where my wife and I reside. If you like to golf. Eagle Ranch is for you. One of the nice things about Eagle Ranch is that there’s some condo living, some duplex living, and also some golf course living.

The really neat thing about this part of town is that it's almost like a mini Old Town. They have a movie theater, a couple of restaurants, and the Brush Creek Elementary School is right down the road. One of the coolest things that I’ve noticed as we started to get familiar with the neighborhood is that the kids are always zipping around on their bikes or fishing over by the creek. There are all sorts of cool things for the kids to do.

Eagle is not very large, so no matter what neighborhood you’re coming from, all the nature trails are interconnected. Here’s one quick tip: there’s wildlife here in Eagle. The nice thing is you don’t put your trash out till the actual day of trash pickup. That keeps the chance of trashcans getting knocked over to a big minimum while keeping the wildlife at bay.

The Orchard And The Terrace

We’re going to combine the next two neighborhoods called The Orchard and The Terrace. These neighborhoods are geared for first-time homebuyers. One of the great things about this neighborhood is that, even in the wintertime, the community gets sun late into the afternoon. This is unlike the Eagle Ranch neighborhood where we live; after about 2:00 pm in winter, you’re in what seems to be a frigid icebox.

Frost Creek

For all you ballers out there, the Frost Creek neighborhood - if you can afford it - is pretty awesome. It’s a gated golf course community and; if you have a cool $2 million or so, you can get in here on their entry-level homes. Of course, if you want more of an estate feel, they do have some building envelopes and footprints that are about an acre but sit on 6-7 acres of total land.

The Frost Creek neighborhood is amazing. There are all sorts of cool wildlife, like deer and elk following their migratory pattern. Because it's a bit out of town, you don’t get the road noise from I-70 in that neighborhood as it's tucked away back. If you can afford it, it would be a fantastic place to call home.

Eagle's Activities

Along with all the great neighborhoods in Eagle, here’s another quick tip for you: this city has approximately 1,180 acres of town-owned open space with miles of hiking and biking trails. One of the coolest parks in town is Eagle River Park. It has four rapids where you can take your kayak, grab a tube, and zip down the water in the summertime.

Eagle River Park is super fun. We went with a whole group of people in summer and had seven tubes lined up. I ejected on the first rapid, lost my sunglasses, and all the kids are laughing and pointing at me because they think they’re pretty cool when they don't fall out and an adult does. It was definitely a wild and fun time at the Eagle River town park. Nearby is the rodeo, so if you’ve never been, do yourself a favor and grab a ticket.
