Are you considering getting the heck out of wherever you're living and want to make Colorado your home? In this video, I'm going to tell you about two of the more popular cities here in the front range of Colorado: Denver and Boulder. We'll compare these two cities and give you all the basics so you can decide which one best fits your lifestyle.

10 years ago, my wife and I were sick and tired of living in Chicago. We got the bug to relocate and move to beautiful Colorado, and we’ve been here and are loving every minute of it ever since. So if you are considering moving and relocating, we would love to have you here in beautiful Colorado.

For all of our clients that move and relocate right here to the Mile High City and Denver Metro area, Denver and Boulder typically come up first in conversation. We'll look at everything from jobs and schools to housing so you can choose the best area for you.

Living In Denver

Business And Brews

For all you startup companies, businesses, entrepreneurs, and tech-savvy people, Denver has a booming community for you. It’s one of the best job markets out here for tech-savvy folks like yourself, whether you’re ready to start your own business or leave that nine to five.

The Mile High City has so much to offer, whether you’re a beer guru, know your sports, or are looking for some good nightlife and family fun during the day. Denver has plenty of restaurants, shopping, and all sorts of different microbrews and regular breweries that you should definitely check out.

Because we’re the most populous city in Colorado, we’ve also got sports teams galore. You can watch the Rockies, the Avalanche, the Broncos, or any type of game you like. When you move here and your home team comes to town, make sure that you go out and see them.

Family-Friendly

Denver is one of Colorado's family-friendly cities and is also very pet-friendly. We’ve got tons to do for you young professionals with young kids, including everything from the Denver Children’s Museum and the Denver Zoo to nature walks through our abundant parks.

If you come out here with small children, we have one of the best K through 12 schools in the country. Coming from Illinois, we had super strict guidelines when it came to school districts. I could have myself go to one school and my neighbor go to another.  One thing that’s amazing about Colorado, though, is that it's an open enrollment state. This means you can take your kid and go anywhere that you choose.

While I know that may be a little controversial to some, our clients that move out here love it. They’re looking for different options when it comes to school for their kids, and there are lots of private and charter schools to choose from as well.

Housing

The housing market right now in Denver is booming. One of the fun things about Denver is it’s one of the biggest options cities. This means that we have the most variety of different styles of homes, from studio apartments to single-family homes and everything in between. If you’re looking for a condo, apartment, townhome, duplex, you name it, we have it. With everything that’s coming onto the market right now, I’m sure that I can find something that fits your tastes. Another fun thing about moving out here is that Denver offers furnished homes.

Here's a Quick Home Buying Tip: The Denver Metro market has been super competitive since I moved here about a decade ago. As a mortgage broker-owner, one of the things that I see is when people move here is that you can get caught up in the roller-coaster emotions that the home buying process can bring. So first and foremost, you always want to have a good solid foundation. That way, when you’re in the field with somebody like Katie, you’re not making emotional or irrational decisions.

You also want to stick to your business strategy regarding how you’re going to acquire the property. Whether you're a first-time homebuyer or are buying your next unit, you want to make sound financial decisions that won’t come back to haunt you in the future.

Buying In Boulder

While Boulder is substantially smaller than Denver, it's one of the friendliest and happiest places to live as ranked by National Geographic. It's located about 30 miles from Denver, and you can get there by train, bus, or even take the bike path. It’s got a really cool urban-suburban vibe that you've got to check out.

One of the great things about Denver is that you can be up in the foothills of the mountains and still have all the amenities of being downtown - without sacrificing that small-town feel.

Jobs

While it's been a little bit of a wacky year for everybody, guess what? Boulder is one of the top cities that is bouncing back this side of the country. So whether you’re looking for something in manual labor, tech, or want to start up your own business, Boulder is the place to be with their booming job opportunities.

The Great Outdoors

Boulder is also known as one of the fittest cities out here in Colorado. With a variety of hiking and biking trails, outdoor activities, festivals, and events, this city is always making sure that their residents are happy and healthy.

For all of you young families, make sure you get the kids outside. Go for an enjoyable hike or bike ride, or walk down Pearl Street and enjoy live music and street performers. Don't forget to also stop over at Into The Wind, one of the most famous toy stores in the area. It’s got kites hanging from the ceiling and all sorts of spectacular toys that you won’t find anywhere else.

Housing Options

Boulder is just a little bit smaller than Denver and their housing options are a little more unique. According to the Boulder community board, they have more renters than buyers right now. That's because the median home price is almost $800,000. But stick with us and we can help you get something a little bit better out in Boulder than just that.

If you’re looking to live out in Boulder, would you pay almost $800,000 for a home out there? Or would you rather get an investment property, start from there, and have it pay for itself? We can tell you how.

Education

While some of you may already know, the University of Colorado Boulder is out in Boulder, Colorado. It’s an amazing college town and one of the top colleges in the country. They always offer very fun events like the Shakespeare Festival and World Affairs where the public can go, enjoy, and educate themselves a little bit more.

If your kids aren’t quite in college yet, no worries because Boulder is still one of the top-rated school districts in the state and in the country. Like Denver, you get to pick what school your kid goes to.
